It has been a busy year so far. My apologies for not keeping up. My newest blog, and I think my finest is: jameslegare.com/. I hope you get a chance to read it. It has several posts on Paris, San Francisco, and soon, Provincetown. This is my latest in gay-friendly travel. I did vote (early, but not often) in the Democratic Primary; May 2012. I urge you to exercise your right to vote. In addition to my blogs and publishing, I am taking French language lessons, and, listening to Audio Books in Spanish. I am enjoying both. I look forward to visiting Paris. Also, San Francisco for Gay Pride.

my websites

An old friend pointed out to me that it has been awhile since I last wrote in this blog of mine. It was referred to as an "inactive" blog.

If you would forgive me, I have been distracted by my projects: my various websites which I use to advertise for my causes and for other things as well.

Texas Travel and Leisure

My Texas Travel and Leisure website is one in which I have had professional freelance writers contribute pieces on various gay-friendly places to visit on one's travels. I hope you find time to visit this website. And, there is more...

Pegasus Star Travel

With this website I have placed some of the writing. At the moment I have a New Orleans article close to the top.

Voyeur's Bookstore

This is a bookstore which I like to call: "Houston's Newest Gay Bookstore." I like to think of it as a virtual version of what a gay bookstore used to be back in the day when owning a bookstore that existed in non-cyberspace was a realistic business proposition. Although, it is becoming more of a general-interest/travel-related and multi-lingual gay bookstore.

Openly Gay Ptown

This is another travel-website. In these websites, I try to present a vision, which I think is lacking in many politically-active circles. It really seems that the personal, or individual agendas come to the fore and the original intent of the organizations tends to fall by the way-side. I think this is especially troubling in Texas.

Also,

Voyeur's Books

This is more of an adult-gay fiction outlet for me to write my fiction. I also write stories that are published in the Texas Travel and Leisure website. I am hoping people will enjoy reading them at least have as much as I have enjoyed writing them.

And, I hope you will forgive my extended absence. But, I have been busy with "the vision thing" to use a phrase coined by one of the Bushes.

Bloodbath

Despite the electoral bloodbath visited upon us by the Republicans which will make it more difficult to pass anti-discrimination legislation at the State and Federal Level, the first openly trans-gender person, Victoria Kolakowski, has been elected judge and Kim Coco Iwamoto won reelection to her seat on Hawaii's Board of Education.

Prop 8, August 2010

Officially known as The California Marriage Protection Act, a somewhat misleading title, this California Ballot Proposition passed in the November 2008 elections and consequently became a California Constitutional Amendment. This Amendment would restrict marriages recognized in California as only those between opposite sex couples. And it would be challenged in The United States District Court for the Northern District of California with a ruling in August of 2010.

The Amendment fails the Rational Basis test.

In the case Perry et al v. Schwarzenegger A Federal Judge in California, U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker, wrote in his opinion that "Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license,...".

Prop 8 denies a singled-out group of Due Process and Equal Protection.

Voyeurs Books

I have a virtual book store. Voyeur's Books, and
Voyeur's Bookstore. These website provide reviews of books and DVDs. It is Houston's newest gay bookstore and is intended to meet the needs of gay adults everywhere. I am stocking the shelves with the finest books.

Tea Party

"Indeed, the rightward tilt of the state's GOP electorate permitted another Tea Party insurgent to mount a respectable run without serving as a spoiler to Perry's similarly themed campaign. Debra Medina, a darling of the far right, recently made headlines for questioning the government's involvement in the 9/11 terrorist attacks, but came in with about the same 16 percent showing that polls registered prior to her gaffe. -http://news.yahoo.com/s/ynews/20100304/ts_ynews/ynews_ts1213

The rightward slant of the Republican party in Texas portends ill for its citizens and residents alike. A state already gerrymandered to the Republican's advantage, allowing a comfortable margin for incompetence, is being pulled toward a radical part of the political spectrum.

The Tea Party rejects any workable form of federalism where the Federal government plays a necessarily central role in funding large projects, such as roads and dams, and provides funding for necessary functions, such as public education.

"But by the time Republican voters went to the polls here in a primary on Tuesday, the political ground had shifted under Senator Hutchison, who lost in a three-way race to Mr. Perry." -link to NY Times Article.

The Tea Party candidates posit themselves as outsiders. But, Rick Perry has been governor for over 10 years.

http://www.billwhitefortexas.com/

If you really want change, elect someone who hasn't been governor for 10 years. Bill White handily beat several other Democratic challengers, and, Bill White doesn't have to hide under a false agenda.

The Tea Party is a mis-informed tax revolt married to a wild-eyed dream of secession. All States require federal money to complete big projects because this is the tax money not hijacked by regional petty thievery, and, back-stabbing. It provides the wealth to the communities too poor to educate their own children or pave their own streets. And it provides a necessary counterweight to local lapses in judgment.

Don't leave the future of Texas in the hands of a movement that would send us back into the Dark Ages; where a decent education is a luxury, and a decent life is a far-off dream. This is the movement that would deny you your unemployment benefits. In fact, Governor Perry already has.

Texas Employment Law

"Texas employment law does NOT prohibit workplace discrimination and/or termination based upon sexual orientation, gender identity, or marital status." -Equality Texas

"The Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), federal legislation that would add sexual orientation as a protected class against discrimination, has been proposed but failed in the past few years. But it is expected that President Obama and the a stronger Democratic majority in Congress will pass and enact the law in 2009." -HRHero.com
